Give generous fast offerings.  Russell M. Nelson, April 1986 General Conference "In the Lord's Own Way".

If children all their days in their turn at family prayers and in their secret prayers remember before the Lord the leaders of the Church, they are quite unlikely to ever fall into apostasy.

"I testify that we can avoid the mists of darkness that lead to personal apostasy..."

Repent of our sins -- Overcome offense -- Eliminate Faultfinding -- Follow Church Leaders -- Humble Ourselves -- Forgive Others -- Keep Covenants -- Partake of the Sacrament Worthily each week -- Strengthen our Testimonies through Prayer, Daily Scripture, Temple Attendance where possible --- Magnify our Church Callings -- Serve our Fellowmen -- Be Concerned and Watchful.

"Avoiding Personal Apostasy", Elder Claudio D. Zivic, of the Seventy

June 2009 Ensign

"We can stand firm by living our religion and seeking the Holy Spirit."

Live our Religion -- Seek the Holy Spirit -- Guard carefully against any degree of wrongdoing -- Pray -- Keep the Sabbath -- Don't be overcome with anger, nor curse or swear, nor take the name of Deity in vain -- Don't do anything which you know to be wrong and not repent. Do not transgress. Do your Duty. Do not complain nor find fault with Church Leaders. Do not make false Prophecies. Do not boast nor claim your own wisdom and strength. Live so as to have the Spirit every day, every hour of the day, every minute of the day. See the Holy Ghost to lead you in your individual duties.
"Preventing Personal Apostasy" - Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young. Chapter 12, 78-84

No man goes away from this Church and becomes an apostate in a week or in a month. It is a slow process. The one thing that would make for the safety of every man and woman would be to appear at the sacrament table every Sabbath day. We would not get very far away in one week—not so far away that, by the process of self-investigation, we could not rectify the wrongs we may have done. If we should refrain from partaking of the sacrament, condemned by ourselves as unworthy to receive these emblems, we could not endure that long, and we would soon, I am sure, have the spirit of repentance. The road to the sacrament table is the path of safety for Latter-day Saints.

Attend Sacrament Meeting and partake of the Sacrament each week.
