The teacher gave everyone in class a small smooth pebble and told them to put it in their shoe---then likened the constant irritation and discomfort to how carrying a grudge affects us negatively. 

On a table in front, she had a small clear plastic container holding smooth rocks of different sizes.  Attached to the container were 5 helium balloons on strings. 

At the end of the lesson, the teacher started taking rocks out of the container as she talked about removing revenge, negative thoughts and feelings, unforgiveness and blame from our heartsand lives. 

When the container was empty and no longer weighed down, the helium balloons carried the container upwards. 

She talked about how removing the burdens lifted us up and gave us freedom.
