"Why is it that some young folks are almost overly conscientious in their school work, even to neglecting their Church responsibilities, when the spiritual should have priority in the study time of every person if preference must be given? However, there is time for fulfilling every need."

        "We counsel you to accept callings in the Church and to serve faithfully in the positions to which you are called. Serve one another.  Magnify your callings.  As you do so, you will be the means of blessing others and you will increase in spirituality."

In fact, being 'valiant' in one's testimony of Jesus includes striving to become more like Him in mind, heart, and attributes (D&C 76:79).  Becoming this manner of men and women is the ultimate expression of orthodoxy!"

        "Each of us has opportunities for Church assignments.  This opportunity of serving in the Church enables us to demonstrate a love of God and a love of our neighbor.  There is no finer way to demonstrate love of God than by serving Him in the positions to which we may be called.  Occasionally, the reward for that service will be prompt, and we'll see the light in the eyes of the person whom we have helped.  Other times, however, the Lord will let us wait a little while and let our reward come another way."

      You ever wonder if that is why the Lord gives us callings in several areas over our lifetime?  He may figure that if he didn't, we would all find our little nitch and stay there.  I believe He wants us to grow more than that.

       "In the service of the Lord, it is not where you serve but how.  In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one takes the place to which one is duly called, which place one neither seeks nor declines."

      "There is no greater Church calling than that of a home teacher.  There is no greater Church service rendered to our Father in Heaven's children than the service rendered by a humble, dedicated, committed home teacher."

       "As calls come to us for church service by the Lord's representatives, it is natural for us to wonder why we have been selected. The Lord has made it plain that every individual has been blessed and endowed with certain gifts and talents.  And while there are many gifts, yet  'To some is given one, and to some is given another, that all may be profited thereby.'    (D&C 46:12)"

        "I wish that every Latter-day Saint could say and mean it with all his heart:  'I'll go where you want me to go.  I'll say what you want me to say.  I'll be what you want me to be.'  (Hymns, 1985, no. 270.)  If we could all do that, we would be assured of the maximum of happiness here and exaltation in the celestial kingdom of God hereafter.
