Do You Generally Feel Happy and Calm?

This can be used as a topic study of the scriptures, going through each one and comparing. The scripture references are under each line. Please note the the "Have the Spirit" and the "Do Not Have the Spirit" numbers match up (as they are opposites), and the scriptures are the same for both.

When You Have the Spirit...

1. You generally feel happy and calm.

Alma 17:10 and John 14:26-27

2. You feel full of light.

2 Nephi 26:10-11 and Alma 19:6

3. Your mind is clear.

D&C 11:13 and D&C 112:22-23

4. You feel love for the Lord and others.

1 Peter 1:11 and Galations 5:22-23

5. You feel generous.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 and Mosiah 4:20-21

6. Nobody can offend you.

Alma 35:15 and John 15:26, 16-17

7. You are very forgiving and kind.

Mosiah 4:12-13 and Ephesians 4:30-34

8. You feel confident in what you do.

D&C 121:45-46

9. You don't mind others seeing what you are doing.

3 Nephi 12:16 and Mark 5:29

10. You want to be with those that love you, especially family members.

Alma 17:2-3 and Mark 5:19

11. You are glad when others succeed.

12. You want to help others be happy, even those opposed to you.

13. You willingly perform church work.

14. You feel like praying and reading the scriptures.

15. You wish you could keep all of the commandments.

16. You usually control your appetites and emotions. You are calm and control your speech. You feel no anger.

17. You generally feel a deep desire to help others in a way no one else will know about.

19. You feel sorry when others have problems and sincerely desire to help them.

23. You will feel a burning in the bosom, or another form of manifestation in the spirit.

When You DO NOT Have the Spirit...

1. You may feel unhappy depressed, confused and frustrated most of the time.

2. You may feel heavy and full of darkness.

2 Nephi 26:10-11 and Alma 19:6

3. Your mind may be muddled.

D&C 11:13 and D&C 112:22-23

4. You may feel empty, hollow, and cold inside.

1 Peter 1:11 and Galations 5:22-23

5. You may feel selfish, possessive, and self centered.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 and Mosiah 4:20-21

6. You may be offended easily.

7. You are usually on the defensive.

8. You may become discouraged easily.

9. You may become secretive and evasive.

10. You may want to be alone most of the time. You avoid others - especially family members..

11. You may be envious almost constantl - of what others do and what they have.

13. You may feel hesitant, unworthy, and unwilling to perform church ordinances.

14. You may not want to pray or read the scriptures.

15. You may find the commandments of God bothersome, restricting, or senseless.

16. You may be a slave to your appetites. You give way to strong anger and outspokenness.

17. When you help others, your main desire may be to have your actions noticed.
